Quasi-Experimental Research of the Eighth Grade Students in One Public Junior High School in Bandung

The research entitled The Implementation of Picture Series to Improve Students’ Ability in Writing Narrative Texts was to investigate the effectiveness of using picture series to improve students’ ability in writing narrative texts. It was also aimed to find about students’ responses toward the use of picture series as the media in teaching writing narrative texts. 

The research was conducted at one public Junior High School in Bandung.The research employed quasi-experimental method. After conducting some treatments, the data were analyzed using SPSS 16.0 for Windows program. The result from the independent t-test showed that the experimental group had different ability in terms of writing narrative texts after they were given the treatments compared to the control group which were not given the treatments. In addition, the effect size of experimental group was 0.44 and it was categorized as large effect. Furthermore, the result of the questionnaire indicates that students’ responses toward the treatments were positive. However, other research about writing’s issues is needed to enhance this research. Therefore, it is recommended to other researchers to conduct more comprehensive research to employ picture series in writing lesson.
